What are water shoes used for?

Water shoes let you go into the ocean without worrying about sharp objects on the ground or even the cold temperature of the water. They also add extra grip to your feet so that you won’t slip and fall when you cross rivers while hiking. These shoes are built from a stretchy mesh to allow you to flex your feet and not restrict their movement.

Do water shoes need to be tight?

To allow water shoes to perform their jobs listed above, they should fit you correctly. A shoe that’s too tight or too loose is of no use. So, do water shoes need to be tight? Yes, your water shoes do need to be tight. Too loose and they might just fall off and be lost forever! They should be tight enough to grip your feet and give you enough confidence to take them out into the ocean. Make sure that there is just enough room at the heel for you to be able to take them off without struggling and also that your toes aren’t squished while wearing them.

At the same time though, they shouldn’t be too tight, so as to cause blisters or corns on your feet. You want to strike a middle ground between tight and loose according to what is comfortable and what inspires confidence in you to play around in the water carefree.

Can I wear water shoes every day?

If water shoes are so great, you should be able to wear them every day right? Well yes you can! Water shoes have gotten a lot more versatile and comfortable over the years. Long gone are the days where they were uncomfortable and plastic-y. Water shoes can now be worn every day as casual shoes! They come in a wide variety of colors, materials and patterns, so as long as you’re comfortable in them, water shoes can become your daily drivers!

Do you have to wear socks with water shoes?

While wearing socks with water shoes isn’t absolutely necessary, they can help avoid blisters and prevent your skin from peeling because of too much friction. Now obviously, you can’t wear regular socks with water shoes, that beats the whole purpose of them! For water shoes, you can get special socks made from a material called neoprene. Neoprene socks are made from the same material that wetsuits are made out of and will not only keep your feet from getting injured, but will also provide them with insulation from the cold!

What should I do If I get a blister?

First of all, don’t worry. Blisters are minor wounds that are much more common than one might think. You can help a blister heal quickly by doing the following steps!

  • Clean the area around the blister with some soap and water and keep it clean!
  • Use a bandage to cover the blister. Keep the bandage loose so as to not pop the blister.
  • If the blister is in a part of the foot where it could get popped from pressure or friction, add cotton padding to it. Try to keep off the blistered foot as much as possible till the blister goes away.
  • Remember to never pop a blister as it could spread the infection to other parts of the foot and take longer to heal.
  • If you follow all these steps and don’t pop the blister, it should be gone in a week or two!
